The recent expansion of the industrial suburb of Cividale, involve an area of historical interest, already investigated in 1826 by the archaeology Michele Della Torre. At that time it was found a Roman Villa (a large house), with fine mosaic floor in black and white tiles. Were also found few objects including Roman coins, lanterns, glass vases and few bronze bells.
Being aware of this news, and following the progress of the bulldozers work, I wend there to take a look, and I was happy to find there also the archeologists.
I take a few pictures about the the ancient walls, with a massive basement. Immediately, after my reconnaissance (17/07/2007), the excavation was covered and works for the new factories was continued.
